Indiana Artisan Marketplace

This giveaway is now closed. Congrats Amy H.!

There’s a reason I don’t have a “crafts” category in my navigation bar. I’m just not crafty! But I am amazed and inspired at how talented some people are to make baskets, purses, pottery and more with their own hands.

I went on a women’s retreat with my church in February, which had a “Dreamweaving” theme. I was so impressed to learn our minister’s mother is quite an accomplished basketweaver! She brought an assortment of sizes and shapes of the baskets she has made through the years, and she brought supplies to teach us to weave a simple basket. Here’s mine:

I also made a feeble attempt at loom weaving, but my pot holder was too tightly woven and it ended up as a coaster. :/

But much (MUCH) more talented artisans and foodies are coming together next weekend to showcase their talent at the 4th Annual Indiana Artisan Marketplace, and while the tickets are incredibly affordable (only $10 for adults, kids 14 & under are free!), you have the chance below to go for FREE.

  • What: Indiana Artisan Marketplace
  • When: March 29-30, 2014
  • Where: Indiana State Fairgrounds
  • More Info:

This event brings nearly 150 food and craft artisans, with demonstrations, tastings and exhibitions in one jam-packed weekend.

Indiana’s heritage in glass, musical instruments, stoneware, woodwork, fine wines and cheeses, candies, brandies and more is defined through this collaboration bringing the artisans and their art, and all of Indiana’s fine food and creativity, together.

You can see a video here from last year’s Indiana Artisan Marketplace, and learn more about Indiana Artisan.

Indiana Artisan has provided me with a pair of tickets to Indiana Artisan Marketplace to give away to one lucky Chaos Is Bliss reader! And remember even if you don’t win, it’s incredibly affordable – adults $10 each, kids ages 14 & under are FREE!

Because this event is next weekend, March 29-30th, this is a quick giveaway – ending on Tuesday 3/25! Hurry and enter, and be sure to share with your local friends.

Indiana Ag Day

Next Tuesday I will be joining many of my fellow Indy bloggers and farm friends from Indiana’s Family of Farmers downtown by the State House for Indiana Ag Day, and you’re invited!

  • What: Indiana Ag Day
  • When: Tuesday March 25, 2014 from 11:00am – 1:00pm
  • Where: Outside the Statehouse, South Senate Ave.
  • Why: Because you like to eat good food. And you love Indiana. And you support local agriculture. Right?!

Last year I attended the event and our wee little tummies were stuffed with amazing creations from local Indy food trucks, and this year’s lineup promises to look just as fulfilling!

There’s no need to RSVP, just show up and show your support! Come at 11:00 to hear opening remarks by Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann, and enjoy some (crossing fingers) Spring sunshine as you browse and lunch on local food truck fare.

So … do you have a favorite food truck? Leave me a comment and give them a shout out!  Last year I gorged on Little Eataly, hoping they’ll make a return but I’m looking forward to finding new faves!

Be sure and share this post with your local friends so we can show our support for local farmers, because as you know, #FarmsMatter! You may also follow Indiana’s Family of Farmers on Facebook and Twitter for more details on this and coming events!
