If you can think of one area of the grocery store that’s been around since – well, pretty much literally – the beginning of time, and will (Lord willing) be around ’til the end of time, that would be fresh fruits and vegetables.
Hanging my head in shame, I’ve said it before, I am not a lover of vegetables. I do however serve vegetables to my husband and children, and just to show I’m not a complete ninny, I will put a small serving on my own plate. Throw any fruit my way however, and it’s gone in three seconds flat. Well maybe not a watermelon.
Just two nights ago I sat with a group of cronies and chatted about juicers. (Did you know “juicing” was a verb these days?! Huh!). One recipe my friends were trying has kale, spinach, cucumber, pear and apple. Not a bad way to get your vitamins and antioxidants, using fresh produce in a drinkable format.
The Produce Mom (known to friends as “Lori”) knows her fruits & veggies. She has a passion like no other to share the healthy benefits of fresh produce on tables across the country at every meal, whether you’re at home, in the office or at school (and whether you’re having them with fingers, a fork, or through a straw).
Lori has teamed up with Sage Fruit, a vendor of Indianapolis Fruit Co. to promote two fun giveaways! But pay attention - the second one is a hottie and it ends tomorrow!
- How are you making 2013 a New Year with a New You? Just through tomorrow (1/20/12), snap a photo of a great example of how you’re doing just that, and submit it to The Produce Mom’s photo contest where you could win a $100 gift card to the grocery store of your choice! Examples include: a new healthy recipe, exercising, changing habits, anything that will help you to have a New You! After submitting your photo, share with your friends and gather “likes”. The entrant with the most photo “likes” will win the $100 grocery gift card! There are also prizes for 2nd and 3rd place.
As if that’s not exciting enough, The Produce Mom is celebrating her 1-year anniversary of sharing her passion for the benefits of fresh fruits & veggies. I’d love it for you to pop over to her Facebook page, Like it and say Happy Anniversary! Bonus points if you mention Chaos Is Bliss sent ya .
