Happy Mother’s Day!

by Ann-Marie on May 13, 2012

Happy Mother’s Day!

I hope you enjoy a nice day celebrating with your family and make new memories.

I’ll be enjoying lunch with my family and my parents, then heading to the Rhythm Discovery Center in downtown Indy for some fun banging drums!  Later this afternoon I might sneak off to my favorite local coffee hotspot and enjoy a little ‘me’ time with one of my umpteen unread magazines. What I won’t be doing is cooking or cleaning, except for laundry which I’m a stickler on.

What are your plans for the day? Share in a comment what your family is doing for you today or the fun you have planned!

If you’ll be heading to lunch or dinner (or even a mid-day snack!), don’t forget about my list of Mother’s Day Restaurant Freebies & Deals to shave off a few bucks or get a free sweet treat!

Here’s a little quote I found on Pinterest that I think speaks for all moms…

When you are a mother,
You’re never really alone in your thoughts.
A mother always has to think twice …
Once for herself, and once for her child.

Have a wonderful day!

EXPIRED
This deal has ended.

by Ann-Marie on February 24, 2012

Until my son was given a large book of Dr. Seuss collections, I had never heard of the Lorax story. It’s a sweet story with elements of kindness, being good to nature and a lesson in greed.

Target is offering a FREE store event on Saturday, February 25, from 9am – 11am for a Dr. Seuss Storytime reading of The Lorax, part of the NEA’s Read Across America campaign. Kids will also enjoy goody bags, fun activities and more. Check with your local Target store to see if they’re participating in this free event.

Thanks Spoiled But Not Rotten!

Step back in time at Conner Prairie Interactive History Park in Fishers, Indiana and enjoy the sights and sounds of life in the 1800s!

Hearthside Suppers

My family’s most recent trip to Conner Prairie was for their 1836 Outdoor Adventure last month. My kids were a bit uncertain walking into a schoolhouse with no signs of today’s technology, or even heat!  It was fun role-playing with the hosts at each stop on our path.

Conner Prairie offers something for everyone!

  • Learn about the Science of Football just in time for Indianapolis’ historic opportunity to host the Super Bowl
  • Little ones will enjoy Prairie Tykes, classes offered each Friday with a different age-appropriate theme
  • Enjoy Hearthside Suppers and dine family-style as you learn more about life in the 1800s.

Experience Conner Prairie for yourself for FREE on President’s Day, Monday February 20, 2012 when they are offering free admission from 10am-5pm.

Stay tuned for new blog posts!

by Ann-Marie on October 25, 2011

Things sometimes have an unexpected way of turning out.

My family drove to sunny Orlando to spend a week at Disney World. I brought my laptop, even paid 2-day shipping to have a new laptop bag delivered in time before we left.

We are having a deliriously happy time and my 3 kids are over the moon with their vacation so far.

I had hoped to continue writing at least a few posts while we were gone, however reason #29 why we’re not pleased with our hotel choice (more on that next week in my trip report!) is they don’t offer free wi-fi. As a newbie to laptops, it never occurred to me I could be in a hotel which caters to the business class, and not have free wireless internet access.

I apologize and hope you understand, I just am not willing to pay $9.95 per 24 hours to have access.  Am I the only one who thinks that’s nuts?

So I’ll close now, because my thumbs are becoming as weary as my feet from typing this post on my smart phone.

Stay tuned, next week I’ll be back in full force!  Thank you for your patience, understanding and loyalty!
