Have you heard the hype surrounding the new Extreme Couponing show on TLC? Set to debut this Wednesday 4/6/11, Extreme Couponing profiles money-saving gurus from around the country in their real-life journey to save money with couponing. I watched a preview on TLC and while I will definitely tune in, it will be with a touch of skepticism about the editing done by the show for the purpose of viewership and ratings. Much like other reality shows, the creative editing process cuts out a lot, and can skew a personality into something completely inaccurate.
That said, I hope to learn some tricks I didn’t know. I don’t have the storage like some may for stockpiling 100 rolls of paper towels, and I don’t care to devote 30 hours a week on scanning ads and clipping coupons. The only thing a person should do with 1,000 packages of ramen noodles is deliver them to a shelter. I’m just sayin’.
But I can definitely get inspired by a woman who has $230 worth of groceries scanned, presents her coupons and her grocery store savings card, and ends up with a total out of pocket cost of just $6.92. That is just fascinating to me!
So check it out this Wednesday on TLC, 8pm Eastern. I’d love to hear your comments if you watch it!
