You may notice if you read through my posts that at the bottom of many online shopping deals I include a blurb about how much cash back you can get on that particular store by shopping through Ebates.

For those that may be skeptics, I can tell  you it’s real, it’s legit, and I only wish I had known about it sooner!

Ebates has given me the go-ahead to host a giveaway for one lucky Chaos Is Bliss reader to win $50 deposited into your Ebates account! Please note, in order to win this giveaway you must be a registered member of Ebates.

How it works:

• Sign up for free with just your name & email address. You’ll get to choose a FREE $10 gift card to Target, Home Depot, Magazines.com (these change periodically) or a $5 Ebates credit with your first $25 purchase!

• Look for the store you want to shop at. There is a search box in the top right, or on the top left there is a drop-down list of all stores.
• Once you find the store you want to shop at, you’ll see a screen that looks like this:

• Once you click through the “Shop Now” button, you’re on your way to your favorite store. Since you started with Ebates, you’ll earn a percentage of your purchase deposited into your Ebates account.
• Have a coupon code? No problem! If you scroll down on the page you’ll find any current coupon codes. Use them as you normally would.

I do shop online, but generally only for gifts so not super frequently. I joined in late 2010, and have earned a few “Big Fat Checks” so far. Remember, I know a ‘good price’ so many times I’m already getting a great online deal and may only earn $1 or $2 on an Ebates online purchase. But that grows! My account shows I’ve had $92.40 paid out since joining. Imagine if you shop online more often than I do, what your payout would be!

Big Fat Checks (as Ebates calls them) are paid quarterly on balances greater than $5.01. If your balance is less than that, it will carry over. You can choose to be paid by a paper check mailed to you, through Paypal, or you can generously gift it to your favorite charitable organization. There are no fees! Occasionally you may get an offer like I did for my most recent Big Fat Check, where you can opt for another form of payout (like an Amazon gift card) and they just may give you a  little incentive for doing so.
