Review & Giveaway: Salsa Me Krazy

by Ann-Marie on January 29, 2013

I have a fairly delicate palate for spicy foods. Just last night I hosted a cooking club with some friends, and for our Superbowl/New Orleans theme I chose a few recipes with some “kick”, like Stuffed Jalapenos, Buffalo Wings and Red Beans & Rice with my first taste of Creole seasoning. So I’m working on kicking my taste bud tolerance up a notch, so to speak.

Salsa Me Krazy is a Greenwood, Indiana-based maker of … you guessed it, salsa. When I was offered a sample of Salsa Me Krazy and given my heat options of Mild, Medium or Hot, I was tempted to try the Mild for fear of a mouthful of flames with the other two options. But then I opted for Medium, mainly because I figure Mild is like the “White Zin” of the salsa world and I really can’t give it a good review effort unless I hike up my britches and try at least a Medium.

I got my shipment on a Friday afternoon, packed so carefully with bubble wrap, and I popped it open before I even said hello to my kids getting off the bus. I grabbed my Tostitos, dipped one in and braced myself for what I expected to be a fiery blast. I cracked open a cold one to quickly cool my taste buds, if a fire needed put out.

Right away I was delighted with the sweet taste, tangy and a bit of kick, but not nearly the heat I was dreading. In fact, it was so nom nom good I seriously chowed the 1/2 cup or so I had poured into my festive salsa bowl. I could have just eaten it with a spoon, sans chip. I am really looking forward to trying Salsa Me Krazy in a couple of new recipes (look for more on that next month!).

Salsa Me Krazy is praised for using all natural ingredients made in the U.S.A. with no artificial preservatives. It’s a locally-owned Hoosier business looking to expand into specialty, gourmet and grocery stores (you can find their products in just a few retail locations in Carmel, IN; Kansas City, KS and a few in Missouri). Why there’s not a Greenwood, IN store that hasn’t picked up this deliciousness for their salsa shelves is beyond me (so please, tell your retailers to carry Salsa Me Krazy!). If you’re a salsa connoisseur, you’ll have to take my word for it, try it out and see for yourself.

Buy It

Try Salsa Me Krazy for yourself and grab a jar of Mild, Medium or Hot for just $6.95 + shipping, or try a 3-pack deal available (no longer available) on Salsa Me Krazy’s Facebook page for just $15 + shipping.

Win It Contest has ended

I’m as happy as habanero to be able to give away a jar of Salsa Me Krazy to one lucky Chaos Is Bliss reader! The contest starts now, and ends at 9pm ET on Monday, February 4, 2013. The winner will be randomly drawn using And The Winner Is, notified by email and have 24 hours to confirm before another name is drawn.

Tap tap tap … Is This Thing On? [Facebook Woes]

by Ann-Marie on October 19, 2012

You may have read some rumblings that Facebook is making it really difficult for fans to see their favorite pages. Facebook is wanting businesses – even individuals – to pay, literally, to promote their posts to more of their own readers. (Payola anyone?). And when we don’t pay to promote our posts, we are downgraded to just a bare minimum reach.

It’s disheartening that I work hard to write posts and when they publish to my Facebook page, as little as 1% of my fans are seeing my updates in their newsfeeds.

So if you have a Facebook account and would like to see Chaos Is Bliss posts in your newsfeed – including the day’s deals, last minute free sample notices and other hot news that may not make it to a blog post, may I ask you to do one simple task?

  • On the Chaos Is Bliss Facebook page, hover over the “Like” button (if you haven’t yet liked it, that would technically be the first step ;)
  • Click on “Add to Interest Lists“.

Simple enough?

Thank you so much!  Feel free to leave a comment with your own Facebook “woes”!

If you missed my money-saving tips this morning on Indianapolis’ B105.7, here’s the rundown!

  • Check your Sunday newspaper before you toss it in your recycling bin! The front of my Living section had a Fannie May coupon sticker good for $5 off an in-store purchase with no minimum purchase required. This likely was offered in other markets as well! Fannie May is offering free 2nd day shipping on online orders if you purchase today (no coupon code required (Mint Meltaways – yummmm).
  • Today is the last day you can get a dozen eggs for 33¢ at Meijer, here’s how. They’re on sale for 88¢ a dozen. Go to Incredible Edible Egg’s Facebook page and print a coupon good for 55¢/2 dozen eggs. Meijer will match that up to $1, taking off 50¢ per dozen eggs, for a final price of just 33¢ each. Meijer’s sale in the Indianapolis area runs Thurs-Wed, so if you live in a different area this price may have expired last Saturday.
  • Rickers which is an Indiana company operating BP and Marathon stations, is offering a new loyalty card called Rickers Rewards. Stop in any Rickers location and sign up for a Rewards card which will save you on in-store products and you can even link it to your checking account and use your card at the pump to save 10¢ per gallon on gas.
